Accused killed salon exec on spur of moment
Mumbai: Mumbai crime branch officers investigating the murder in March of Kirti Vyas, finance executive of an Andheri-based salon, have said that the two accused, who were her colleagues, claimed that they killed her on the “spur of the moment”.
The duo claimed that they wanted to meet Ms Vyas and dissuade her from sacking Siddhesh Tamhankar, one of the two accused, for lack of performance. Ms Vyas had served notice to Tamhankar and a decision was to be taken on March 16, the day she was murdered.
However, the discussion soon deteriorated into a brawl leading to the strangling of Ms Vyas. A crime branch officer said, “These claims need to be substantiated before being believed. There is no clarity on what irked Tamhankar, if the meeting was to sort things out.”
The investigators have also learned that the isolated spot on BPT road was selected as Tamhankar knew the topography of the area. He had stayed for a couple of years in a building, barely 500m away from the spot, and used to go for morning walks along the same stretch.
