Asaduddin Owaisi talks of family values, takes jibe at Mulayam, son
Mumbai: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi hit out at his rival parties, the Congress and the Samajwadi Party, which have bagged a majority of Muslim votes so far. Speaking at an election campaign rally in the thickly Muslim populated area of Quresh Nagar in Kurla, Mr Owaisi urged Muslims to respect their parents, and not put their faith in leaders who do not respect institutions of family.
Talking a jibe at Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh and his son Akhilesh, Mr Owaisi said, “Where a son lashes out at his father for political brownie points, how can he be a good person? Respect your parents while they are still alive. There is nothing more important than them.”
Meanwhile, Mr Owaisi also lashed out at the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance, and blamed them for deliberately ignoring areas populated by Muslims. Mr Owaisi said, “Muslims are not getting their due. Muslims densely populate all poor areas in Mumbai and the Sena is ignoring these areas. They lack basic fundamental rights, such as access to drinking water, good schools, healthcare, safe roads, and employment.”
