Ahead of 2019 polls, Sule to blog on crucial issues

Till today no political leader from Maharashtra has been able to consistently write a blog on current affairs.

Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Supriya Sule will blog twice a month on important political and social issues as an attempt to connect with people. She will begin her venture on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. Ms Sule, who uses social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook on a regular basis, is likely to use the medium as a means to convey her opinions at length.

With only 15 months to go for the next Lok Sabha elections, Ms Sule has decided to increase her presence on the various media platforms, said her close aide. “To begin with, her blog posts will be her in-length interpretations of political and social issues. She has been articulating her thoughts in the Lok Sabha and has been getting a tremendous response for it too. However, as this only happens when the parliament is in session, these blog posts will help her interact with public on a regular basis. This is why she has decided to pen down her thoughts every fortnight,” he added.

Till today no political leader from Maharashtra has been able to consistently write a blog on current affairs. However, there have been leaders who have written a column, weekly or even fortnightly for newspapers and magazines. Even Ms Sule’s father, NCP chief Sharad Pawar used to write a memoir column for a Marathi newspaper.

After losing the 2014 assembly elections, the NCP has felt a need to increase its presence on social media. As a part of this, they have taken to Twitter and Facebook to reach out to the people.
