MRA police cracks 2006 murder case
Mumbai: The MRA Marg police cracked a murder case almost 11 years after the crime took place and arrested the deceased man’s 60-year-old widow and two others. The person’s head and limbs had been chopped and thrown at different places, making it difficult for police to identify him then.
The police solved the murder case after pursuing a tip-off by an informant. During the probe, it was found that the wife had given a contract of '2 lakh to two men as she was tired of getting physically abused by him in his drunken state.
The informant had approached the police, saying he knew of two persons who had committed a murder in 2006 but were never arrested.
The deceased, Kisan Kharwa, used to drink alcohol and allegedly physically abuse his wife Bansiben Kharwa, said police officials.
This had led to Bansiben allegedly giving the contract to kill her husband to Firasatali Shah (48) and Irshadali Shah (43).
They had allegedly stabbed him to death and disposed off his head, hands and legs in separate places, while the remaining body was dumped into Mastan lake in JJ Marg area.
The JJ Marg police had shut the probe upon failing to ascertain the identity of the deceased.
“We conducted a probe into the claims and found it to be true. The contract killers were identified and were arrested for questioning. The conspiracy then came to the fore and the elderly woman was arrested,” said Manoj Sharma, deputy commissioner of police (zone I).
The officials said that all of them have been handed over to the JJ Marg police for further investigation.
