Two female illegal Bangla immigrants apprehended
Mumbai: The Thane Rural police arrested two female Bangladeshi immigrants from Mira Road who had been staying there illegally. The accused had been staying there for five months and were apprehended after the locals learnt about it and tipped off the police about them.
The police then conducted a raid at the spot located at Sai Baba Nagar Road near a church where the daily wagers assembled to be hired for work. The two women spotted the police and began to flee from the spot, but they were chased down and arrested by the officials.
The police said that the women were allegedly part of a larger group of persons who had allegedly immigrated illegally into India. “They did not have a passport or a visa for crossing into India and had allegedly come via land border by crossing it fraudulently,” said an officer of Thane Rural police.
The officer said that the accused women were in contact with their agents after coming to Mira Road. The police have booked the two women under the sections of Passport Act and Foreig-ners Act and the officials are verifying if the two women are acquainted with the Bangladeshi im-migrants who were arrested in separate raids by the Palghar police.
The Waliv police had arrested six illegal Bang-ladesh immigrants in December, who had been staying there for five years. The police also seized forged identity documents from their possession that they had procured from local agents. The arrested accused were staying in a flat at Bhavni Heights in Naigaon for five years.
