Mumbai: The office bearers of the Punjabi Sahitya Academy (PSA) have organised a recitation of Gurbani at Raj Bhavan on January 20 despite the fact that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government had recently dissolved the body. January 20 is the birth anniversary of the 10th Sikh guru Guru Gobind Singh.

The move has irked the minority affairs department, which has written to the Raj Bhavan stating that government permission was not sought for the programme.

“Without an approval from the government, how can PSA organise a programme? We have informed the governor that the programme does not have the government’s approval. As per the business rule, the PSA can work only after taking an approval from the government,” Mr Malik said.
