Three accused escape while being taken to Yerwada Jail

Pune: Three accused managed to escape while being escorted back to jail from court Monday evening in Pune. The Pune police was taking the three to Yerwada Central Jail from Khandala court in Satara district when they escaped.

S.A. Suryavanshi, assistant police inspector, Bharati Vidyapith police station, said Raju Mahadev Pathere (25), Santosh Machindra Jagtap (30), and Santosh Chintaman Chandolkar (25), were being escorted back to taken jail after being produced in Khandala court.

When the police van reached Katraj Ghat, the trio said they wanted to answer nature’s call. A police constable accompanied them, but the three pushed him away and escaped into the jungle, he said.
