Mumbai: A man, who was booked in the past under the stringent provisions the MCOCA, killed a construction worker Nitesh Suvarna (27), with a country-made gun on Friday in Nerul after a brawl erupted between the duo. The accused was in an intoxicated state when he fired at Nitesh. The accused fled the spot on Friday around 3 am after the incident. The police nabbed the accused identified as Gaurav Yadav in Boisar a few hours after the incident. The police examined CCTV units at railway stations and traced him.

The police is trying to establish the motive behind the murder. The accused and the victim worked in a Navi Mumbai-based builder’s office. A police officer said, “He has been working there since past one year. On Thursday Nitesh and his colleague, Amar Yadav and the accused Gaurav were on the night duty. Gaurav and Nitesh got into a fight. The accused shot at him with an illegal weapon.”

He said he was drunk and was trying to show his power by showing the gun to the Nitesh, but accidentally fired at him.”
