Mumbai: A village with affordable homes, where all facilities will be provided to residents for a mere Rs 3 to Rs 4 lakh, is set to become a reality. The Mhada is holding deliberations on the idea and an international tender will be floated in the next quarter, housing minister Jitendra Awhad has said.

“Spaces on the outskirts of villages (Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad, Palghar and Nagpur) will be utilised to create these villages. We have already instructed the collectors to find out such space and lands and submit a report within a week,” said Mr Awhad wh-ile talking to media. Lands owned by the collectors or any government agency will be utilised for the project, the minister added.

“Most of the time, affordable houses are not good enough to live in. These villages will be developed with all the facilities and amenities required for comfortable living,” added Mr Awhad.

According to Mr Awhad, this will help the migrant population and poor families who migrate for a better living. This will also help children who migrate for studies and it will also have a positive impact on the economy.
