Mini buses to soon ply in Bandra Kurla Complex

MMRDA has procured one hybrid buse to ply from Kurla to BKC and will be taking the help of the BEST to make it operational.

Mumbai: Experts have said Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport (BEST) mini-buses must continue to ply on the Bandra Kurla Complex-Kurla. Currently, 310 double-decker buses ply on the route, but commuters have been frustrated about the time taken by them to manoeuvre in and out of various lanes. As a result of this delay, commuters have been catching share autorickshaws, which causes additional delays and affects the punctuality of buses on the route.

One of these advocates is Jitendra Gupta who feels that the need for the mini-buses to ply specifically from Kurla station to BKC is due to the fact that the routes is very narrow and is problematic for the double-decker to make its way around, he said, “The mini bus proposal has been on the both the BMC’s and the BEST’s agenda for while now but they have just been sitting on it.” He further added that if the mini-bus is run, it will take away the hassle of auto-rickshaws seen outside the station, “People don't go for the bus because it takes a round-about route and as a result the commute time is increased by at least 20 minutes.”

BEST chief public relations officer, Hanumant Gophane said, “It is being considered and we will soon have a decision on the issue.” The MMRDA has procured one hybrid buse to ply from Kurla to BKC and will be taking the help of the BEST to make it operational.
