Focus is on quality assessment: Devanand Shinde

When asked about what the next deadline would look like, he said, This time, we won't have a deadline like the previous one.

Mumbai: The new acting Vice Chancellor of the Mumbai University (MU), Dr. Devanand Shinde, who took up the responsibility on Thursday, has been conducting meetings with the assessors in order to motivate them to put in their 100 per cent to expedite the results of the final year degree examinations conducted by the varsity in the month of April-May.

Shinde said, “It’s been only two days since I have taken up the responsibility. The primary things we are considering are – evaluation and the technical side. As far as evaluation is concerned , through meetings, we have communicated in such a way that the faculty (teaching and non-teaching staff) are now ready to work continuously without a single day off in order to complete the assessment. About the technical side, tomorrow (Sunday) morning, the On-Screen Marking system associates and us will have a brief talk where we will get to a conclusion on how to solve the technical glitches which is making the assessment process slow.”

When asked about what the next deadline would look like, he said, “This time, we won’t have a deadline like the previous one.” MU’s VC Dr. Sanjay Deshmukh, who is on leave had given July 31 and August 5 as two deadlines to declare all the results.

Shinde continued, “Our focus now is the quality of the assessment. Thus, we won’t have a deadline or timeline pattern. Maintaining the quality is the key, and the rest is primary.”
