ATS quizzes trio to ascertain type of terror strike
Mumbai: With the alleged right-wing terror ring busted by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), the officials are now questioning the arrested trio to identify the type of terror strike they were planning.
The ATS is probing the case from various angles to establish whether the arrested accuseds used stolen cars to carry explosives and crude bombs to target locations.
The ATS on Saturday seized several registration number plates of cars along with cache of arms from multiple lo-cations in Pune.
The investigators claimed that they are in the process of finding out if the registration numbers on the plates were forged or original.
Meanwhile, Several teams of the ATS have been interrogating the arrested trio — Vaibhav Raut (40), Sharad Kala-skar (25) and Sudhanva Gondhalekar (39).
“We are questioning the accused about the crude bombs and the firearms that were fou-nd. The four locations (Solapur, Satara, Kolh-apur and Nalasopara), where the alleged strikes were likely to be conducted are also being scanned for finding the foot soldiers,” said an ATS officer on the condition of anonymity.
Further, the ATS has detained at least 15 persons for questioning in the terror case and are interrogating them on their links to the arrested trio.
On Saturday, the Pune unit of ATS had seized cache of arms from several locations including Gondhalekar’s (associated with Sambhaji Bhide’s Shiv Prathisthan) residence.
The ATS seized 10 country-made pistols, crude firearms, air gun, 10 pistol barrel, 6 incomplete pistol bodies, 6 magazines, 3 incomplete magazines, 7 pistol slides, 16 relay switches and 6 car number plates.
