Mumbai: A group of residents from Colaba and Mahim has approached the Bombay high court in support of Metro 3 work. They have said that they can bear a little temporary nuisance for the sake of better transport facilities. The court has allowed them to file an intervention application.

Michael Pereira, a Colaba resident and retired businessman who was part of the group, said, “There are quite a few residents of Colaba and Mahim with us who are ready to bear a little nuisance till construction of Metro 3 is over. Hence, we want to file an intervention application.I have been residing in Colaba for more than 60 years and we have used different modes of transport. I believe Metro is also a good option for transport and so, we are supporting it.”

The group wants to intervene in the writ petition filed by advocate Robin Jaisinghani alleging violation of pollution norms by MMRCL in constructing Metro 3.

Advocate general Ashutosh Kumbhkoni on Thursday informed the bench that as per information received by him, drilling work made the maximum noise and hence, he was ensuring that work was not carried out during night time.

Advocate Jaisinghani termed it a false claim.
