Luck differs for two foreigners who misplaced bags
Mumbai: Two foreign nationals, from Argentina and South Korea respectively, were robbed at two different occasions when they were victims of bag misplacement.
In the first, a complaint of bag being misplaced was lodged by an Argentinean, in Andheri police station on Thursday, where an Argentinean national had lost his bag in an auto rickshaw. In a similar incident, a Korean national was robbed at Dhobi Ghat on January 3 where he lost 100$ and Rs 6000 after an unidentified man assisted him to show around the area. The police is yet to nab the thief.
Augustin Gonzales (21), had lost his bag in an auto rickshaw while he was travelling with a friend from Andheri railway station to Chakala. Gonzales’ bag contained his passport, 1000 American dollars and two cameras. Gonzales filed a complaint with Andheri police station, following which the officers of the police station located his bag, after searching for the auto rickshaw driver for 11 hours.
Since the auto rickshaw driver did not misuse the belongings from the complainant’s bag, no charges were pressed against him. In a similar case, an unidentified man robbed the 21-year-old South Korean national, Kim Yong Hyun, on January 3, while he was walking around Dhobi Ghat. The robber allegedly stole his backpack, which contained his passport, visa, debit cards and train tickets to Udaipur, Delhi, Jaipur and Varanasi. Hyun was visiting Mumbai for a tour.
The Agripada police station is probing the matter, and looking into the CCTV footage of the vicinity to identify the thief. The police has booked the unidentified robber under IPC section 378 for theft. No arrests have been made in the case yet.
