Mumbai: BJP seeks public's opinion on manifesto

Mumbai: Ahead of municipality polls, the BJP has sought public suggestions for drafting the party’s manifesto. The BJP’s city unit has also opened Twitter and Facebook accounts to seek the people’s views. The BMC polls will be held on February 21. Even as the alliance talks between the Shiv Sena and BJP are yet to begin, the BJP has initiated the process of framing the party’s manifesto for the BMC polls. The BJP’s city president, Ashish Shelar, headed the first meeting of the manifesto committee at the party’s Mumbai office.

Speaking about the manifesto, Mr Shelar said, “The party’s emphasis would be on the transparent functioning of the BMC. A transparent manifesto is the need of the hour for a vibrant city like Mumbai. Citizens’ opinions and ideas would be taken into consideration while finalising the manifesto.” The BJP has said, “If we decide to join hands with the Shiv Sena, then we will ask our alliance partner to incorporate these suggestions into the joint manifesto.”

Meanwhile, Sena sources said, “The party would soon launch its BMC polls campaign. A few hoardings have already been put up at 15 locations in Mumbai. In the second phase, the social media campaign will begin irrespective of whether the alliance is finalised.” The Shiv Sena sources further added that during campaigning, the party would highlight the development works it has carried out in the city.
