Shiv Sena leaders want Aaditya Thackeray to contest LS polls
Mumbai: Just like Congress introduced party president Rahul Gandhi’s sister Priyanka Gandhi to active politics, Shiv Sena may also spring a surprise by asking Aaditya Thackeray to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha or Vidhan Sabha polls. If it happens, he will become a first member of the famed Thackeray family to enter electoral politics.
According to Shiv Sena sources, several party leaders have pleaded with Aaditya to contest either the Lok Sabha or Vidhan Sabha polls, both to be held this year. Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has been holding meetings with party leaders and office-bearers for the preparation of forthcoming polls. During these meetings, Aaditya was asked by his partymen to explore the possibility of contesting the polls.
“We have requested Aadityaji to contest either the Lok Sabha or Vidhan Sabha polls. His entry into electoral politics will certainly energise the party.” said a senior party leader on the condition of anonymity.
Aaditya, has also been a head of Yuva Sena — party’s youth wing. Though away from electoral politics, he has been considered the second leader in the party and is also considered as the brain behind major party decisions and was also involved in seat-sharing talks with the BJP.
