Mumbai: A day after Bollywood singer Aditya Narayan (30) was arrested and granted bail for allegedly ramming his Mercedes into an auto-rickshaw on Monday evening, he said on Tuesday that he felt sorry for what happened and that he would bear all medical expenses of the two persons injured in the accident: the auto-rickshaw’s female passenger and its driver.
In a statement issued on the Monday accident, Narayan said, “It was an unfortunate accident and I feel sorry for what had happened. Soon after the accident, I immediately took the driver and a women passenger to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital where they are recuperating.” He added, “I will take care of the medical expenses of the injured people. The lady, a widow, is now better and likely to be discharged today, while the driver of the auto-rickshaw is undergoing treatment and is responding to medical help provided by the hospital.”
Zulfikar Memon, Narayan’s lawyer said, “Aditya has done what any responsible citizen would do. As a family, the Narayans have taken care of the injured person and are looking into the medical needs.”
The female passenger, Surekha Shivekar (32), was discharged on Tuesday.
