MU blames teachers for results delay
Mumbai: A University of Mumbai (MU) official has blamed a lack of teachers’ “full cooperation” for the delay in the examination results.
Teachers are miffed at the discontinuation of manual assessment, the official said. Last year, MU attributed the delay to the on-screen marking (OSM) system.
The authorities fear there could be further delay if the teachers continued to lag. “Whenever there is a meeting with teachers, the only thing they keep on saying is to bring back manual assessment,” said an official, who did not want to be named.
But MU does not want to retrace its steps. Arjun Ghatule, in-charge director of the board of examinations and evaluation, said, “It does not make sense to go back to manual assessment and creating confusion.”
When asked about the allegations of MU officials, Kiran Mehta, a teacher, said, “What they fail to realise is the short period given to teachers to learn the new system. Hence the delay.”
