Rainfall to continue for another 24 hours: Report

On Thursday till 6 pm, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region recorded 10.13mm of rain.

Weathermen have stated that the rainfall will continue for another 24 hours while the monsoon is expected to hit Mumbai by this weekend.

Mumbai: Intermittent rains continued over Mumbai region on Thursday with good spells recorded in the city area. Weathermen have stated that the rainfall will continue for another 24 hours while the monsoon is expected to hit Mumbai by this weekend.

During the last 24 hours since 8.30 am on Wednesday Santa Cruz observatory recorded 15.1mm and Colaba observatory recorded 19 mm of rainfall. On Thursday till 6 pm, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) recorded 10.13mm of rain, while the eastern and western suburbs recorded 10.59mm and  7.46mm of rainfall. The maximum temperature was recorded was 35.5 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature stood at 24.1 degrees Celsius.

These showers occurred due to Cyclone Vayu , which advanced skirting the Saurashtra coast and began moving away from Gujarat's coast by Thursday evening. "With the available moisture and presence of westerlies due to movement of Cyclone, Mumbai rains are expected to continue for at least two to three days. Monsoon 2019 will arrive over Mumbai during the weekend," read the Skymet Weather report.
