Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Monday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Devendra Fadnavis over their claims of providing more than one crore employment. He alleged that because of the chief minister’s inefficiency, 25,000 jobs were lost due to violence during the Maratha agitation in Aurangabad and other regions of the state.

Referring to the claims made by PM Modi about the employment generation in the last 6 months, the Sena chief asked for specific details of these claims.

“Where are these jobs, in which states and in which fields were they created? The government has not given any details to support their claims. Industry is suffering since the decision of demonetisation was taken and the government’s policies are not benefiting industry, which is unable to create more jobs.”

Mr Thackeray also criticised the practice of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of furnishing bogus figures of achievements of the government.

He cited the incidents of violence which occurred in the Aurangabad MIDC area and across the state during the Maratha stir. “The home department, which is with CM Fadnavis, was inactive and inefficient during this time and did not take any action against agitators. Due to this, more than 25,000 jobs were lost,” he alleged.

He also criticised Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar indirectly on the ‘pagari’ issue at a function held at the Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh. Mr Pawar’s statements on the ‘pagari’ issue created a  controversy recently. Mr Thackeray asked, “Those who have done politics on the issue, do they have the head (brain) to wear it? ”
