Man gets 14-yr jail term for raping minor
Mumbai: A special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court on Thursday convicted a man for sexually assaulting a three and half year old child and sentenced him to fourteen years of rigorous imprisonment.
The prosecution had examined the victim, her family members and doctors to prove case against Anil Kumar Shahu alias Saav.
The victim in her testimony had told the court that their neighbour had taken her to the man’s room and sexually assaulted her and later left her after giving '10. She also identified the accused in the courtroom.
The prosecution said that on the evening of December 6, 2016 the girl was playing with two of her friends neighbourhood. The accused took the victim with him on the pretext of giving her something.
The defence lawyer, during cross-examination, claimed that one lady and the victim’s friend was in the room when the accused took her to his house. But the girl denied and said that nobody was there at the house.
The victim’s mother told the court that she went to her relative’s house nearby, when she heard the victim cry.
The relatives informed the victim’s mother that the girl was complaining that their neighbour had done some bad act with her.
The victim showed her mother the room where she was subjected to the sexual assault.
Following this, they filed a police complaint with Nirmal Nagar police and the accused was held.
Considering the evidence brought on record and testimony of witnesses special judge C.A. Nat-hani convicted and sentenced Saav to fourteen years of imprisonment.
