Sena dubs BJP poll failure a defeat of lies, injustice
The editorial also slammed the PM for not congratulating Mr Gandhi.

Mumbai: The Shiv Sena Thursday continued its tira-de against ally BJP, saying its defeat in the just held state polls was the “defeat of injustice and lies”. Titled “Why Gandhi survived,” an editorial in the Sena mouthpiece Saamana advised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders to shed their arrogance. It also said that the humility of Congress president Rahul Gandhi was enough to throw light on why his family had survived in politics for so many decades.
“Gandhi has accepted victory humbly. It’s been a year since he took over the reins of the party and has now pulled the Congress out of frustration. All those who defamed hi-m and made a mockery out of him are now realising that he won the battle in the homes of the BJP. So, people who used to dismiss the Congress have suddenly gone silent,” praised the editorial.
Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the editorial sai-d, “Now, the PM has said that he and his party have accepted defeat with complete respect to the people. But where was this hu-mility since 2014? People who helped them were thrown out, friends were shown the door, and well-wishers were cornered…”
The editorial also slammed the PM for not congratulating Mr Gandhi. “While accepting defeat, Mr Modi did not show sportsmanship. He did not congratulate Mr Gandhi for this huge win. When Mr Gandhi hugged him in the Lok Sabha, Mr Modi was confused. Otherwise, his face is like who is Mr Gandhi, who is Mr Badal and who is Mr Thackeray. Mr Gandhi praised the work of the BJP chief ministers and declared that the good work would continue,” read the editorial.
