Mumbai: A high-powered committee headed by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday approved development plans (DPs) of five pilgrimage destinations.

DPs for Shri Sant Gulabrao Maharaj's birth place at Loni (Rs 6.70 crore), Shri Kshetra Riddhapur (Rs 25 crore), Shri Sant Gulabrao Maharaj Bhaktidham, Shirasgaon Band (Rs 24.99 crore) -- all three in Amaravati district -- and Shri Sant Sakharam Maharaj at Risod in Washim district (Rs 20 crore) and Shri Kshetra Jyotiba in Kolhapur (Rs 25 crore) were approved.

Fadnavis directed the officials to include sewage treatment plants, waste disposal systems, construction of toilets and rain water harvesting essential parts of these DPs, a statement from the Chief Minister's office said.

The DPs shouldn't be construction-oriented but have sustainability approach, the CM said.
