Narayan Rane richest among seven RS candidates from Maha

Union Minister and BJP candidate Mr Javdekar is the commerce graduate from Pune, has declared assets worth Rs 5 crore.

Mumbai: Former chief minister candidate Narayan Rane is the richest Rajya Sabha candidate from Maharashtra. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded four candidates including Mr Rane for the elections which will be held on March 23. In an affidavit, which was submitted before the Election Commission, Mr Rane declared total assets worth Rs 87.75 crore.

Mr Rane owns movable assets worth Rs 9.68 crore, while his wife Neelam owns the property worth Rs 18.98 crore, as per the affidavit. Mr Rane has also declared that his family owns diamonds and jewellery worth Rs 6.53 crore. The Rane family has dues worth Rs 28 crore. According to the affidavit, Mr Rane has six bungalows worth Rs 18.44 crore, three flats worth Rs 4.11 crore and two commercial properties worth Rs 4.93 crore. He also owns agricultural lands at eight places with the total area of 56.76 acres. The estimated cost of the agriculture lands is Rs 3.62 crore. Mr Rane owns 4,17,128 sq ft non-agricultural land worth Rs 8.19 crore. 

As per the affidavit, the value of his miscellaneous assets mentioned under different heads, including bank deposits, investments and vehicles, stood at around Rs 13.27 crore, In the affidavit, he has mentioned that two cases are pending against him. Mr Rane has studied up to Class 11 from a night school in Mumbai.

Union HRD minister Prakash Javdekar, Mr Rane, Kerala BJP leader V Muralidhar and State women commission Chairman Vijaya Rahatkar have filed their nomination as BJP candidates. The Shiv Sena has opposed Mr Rane’s nomination. The Congress has fielded veteran journalist Kumar Ketkar, while the Sena and the NCP have re-nominated sitting MPs Anil Desai and Vandana Chavan, respectively. 

Union Minister and BJP candidate Mr Javdekar is the commerce graduate from Pune, has declared assets worth Rs 5 crore. He and his wife have liabilities worth Rs 2 crore. The minister doesn’t have any criminal case filed against him, as per his affidavit.

BJP candidate Vijaya Rahatkar and her husband collectively own movable assets worth Rs 1.33 crore. Her family also owns immovable assets worth Rs 3.50 crore, according to her affidavit.
