Now, Kirit Somaiya says his party not against city hawkers
The MNS had started a drive against hawkers after the stampede on Elphinstone road station FOB on September 29.
Mumbai: War of words over the issue of illegal hawking in the city continues to intensify.
After the Shiv Sena supported licensed hawkers' right to earn their livelihood, now Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kirit Somaiya told The Asain Age, “We are not against hawkers, but they shouldn't block the railway stations and bridges.”
The MNS had started a drive against hawkers after the stampede on Elphinstone road station FOB on September 29. Railways and BMC authorities have initiated a drive against illegal hawking near the railway stations.
