Police continue to verify Tiwari kin's allegations
Mumbai: The Malvani police is verifying the veracity of allegations levelled by anchor Arpita Tiwari’s (24) family that her boyfriend, Pankaj Jadhav (30), was responsible for her murder. Tiwari’s sister, Shweta, claims that her sister must have been a victim of sexual assault as there were nail marks on her body. The post-mortem report is still awaited, said a police officer. The police meanwhile suspects the deceased could have been pushed from the bathroom window that led to her death.
Deepak Phatangare, senior police inspector of Malvani police station, said, “After the reconstruction of the incident, the police is sure she was pushed from the bathroom window, and is trying to ascertain if there were any internal fights between the couple.”
Sources said that during the reconstruction of the incident, the police team used a dummy of similar weight and height of the deceased model. The police carried out the reconstruction in three phases, where they tested three scenarios — a suicide, an accidental fall and the place from where she might have been pushed. In the third scenario, four officers shoved it forcefully out of the bathroom window. The dummy in the third scenario fell right on the spot where her body was found on Monday on the second floor duct.
Deepak Phatangare added, “We are still waiting for the post mortem reports after which we will get an insight on the cause of death.”
Speaking to The Asian Age, Arpita Tiwari’s sister Shweta said, “My sister was doing very well in her career, so there is no way she could have committed suicide. I am very sure that her boyfriend Pankaj is somewhere related to her murder, and I expect justice from the system.”
Police sources said that during the statement Jadhav and his friend told that when both of them got up, Tiwari was nowhere to be seen at 7 am. After an hour, her body was found on the duct of the second floor, where she was lying in a semi nude state.
