Mumbai: A 23-year-old Israeli woman, died at a hotel in Colaba in south Mumbai last night after suddenly taking ill, police said.

Pafta Sarit, the woman, and her boyfriend had arrived in India on tourist visa on March 10 and were staying at the hotel.

On Tuesday night she took ill and told her boyfriend that she felt suffocated.

The boyfriend took her to a private hospital with the help of hotel staff, but she died before she could be admitted, police said, adding that a case of accidental death was registered as the exact cause of death was not yet known.

"The body was flown back to Israel after autopsy in the morning," said Dr Manojkumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police. Autopsy report was yet to be received.

As of now police didn't suspect foul play but further probe was on, he said.
