NCP announces second list
Mumbai: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Friday announced its second list of five candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. The speculation over Parth Pawar is over as the NCP has announced his name from the Maval seat.
Sameer Bhujbal, who has been facing charges of money laundering, has been given the Nashik seat. Parth is the son of former deputy chief minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar.
NCP chief Sharad Pawar withdrew his candidature from the Madha Lok Sabha constituency for his grandson Parth.
As Parth’s name was not figured in the first list, which was released Thursday, political experts had raised eyebrows over the same and speculation was rife in political circles whether he would get the ticket or not.
In its first list, the NCP declared 12 candidates, including one seat from Lakshadweep.
According to the list, Dr Amol Kolhe will be the party candidate from Shirur. Dhanraj Mahale from Dindori and Bajrang Sonavane from Beed Lok Sabha constituencies have been fielded.
Earlier this month, Dr Kolhe, who is also a well-known actor, joined the NCP quitting the saffron party Shiv Sena. Dr Kolhe said that he wanted to strengthen the hands of Sharad Pawar.
NCP state president Jayant Patil said that a few names for the Lok Sabha seats would be declared later as the discussion was going on with the Congress party over these seats.
