SSS demands Sangli seat from Congress
Mumbai: Raju Shetti-led Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) has asked the Congress party to leave Sangli Lok Sabha seat for it.
Interestingly, the Sangli district Congress committee has also written a letter to Congress’s in-charge for Maharashtra, Mallikarjun Kharge, demanding that the seat not to be given to Mr Shetti’s or any other party if COngress wants to win the seat.
Mr Shetti held a meeting with Congress leaders on Friday to discuss the demand for the Sangli seat. “In the meeting, the Congress leaders were positive about leaving either Sangali or Wardha seat for us. We are happy if we get one seat from the Congress,” said Mr Shetti.
The NCP has already left the Hatkanangale seat, which is also part of Sangli district, for Mr Shetti. Sources infor-med that Mr Shetti’s party will field former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Indrajit Deshmukh from Sangli seat.
