Builders put under scanner for misleading PMAY adverts

The state government is preparing a list of private developers who have been promoting their projects in the name of PMAY.

Mumbai: In the past too, the state government had made an appeal to the general public, not to fall prey to advertisements of private developers who claimed to sell subsidised homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).  The state housing department claimed that there are still a few developers who are claiming to sell homes under PMAY but “we have till date not approved any private project”.

The state housing department has claimed that it has instead sought a clarification from the Centre on the issue of executing public private partnership (PPP) projects under PMAY.

In May 2016, Mhada took suo-moto action against Pune-based Maple Group for publishing ‘misleading’ newspapers advertisements to promote their flats as affordable homes under PMAY.

The state government is preparing a list of private developers who have been promoting their projects in the name of PMAY. The list will be sent to union housing ministry in New Delhi.
