Mumbai University starts help desk for urgent mark statements'
Mumbai: Mumbai University (MU) has now started a ‘single window application’ facility where the students can obtain a report called the ‘confidential urgent mark statement’ at a help desk set up the varsity. The facility will help students who want to study abroad or at other universities in India to complete their further education. Since Monday, MU received 79 cases where students applied for the statement. The applicants were in limbo because of the ongoing delay of the final year degree college students’ results.
Of the 79 cases, the problems of around 6 students were solved till Tuesday, thanks to the special force it has set up comprising five teachers and one administrative officer.
The help desk, apart from confidential urgent mark statement is now providing ‘confidential scorecards’, which will be sent to the respective universities selected by the students. While the report is a letter that mentions the remark of the student — pass or fail, the scorecard includes the entire statement of marks and also includes the internal examination marks conducted by the college.
According to Vinod Malale, a senior member of the help desk team, 75 per cent of the students applying for the confidential mark sheet have applied to foreign universities while the rest are for universities within the nation. Most of them belong to the Engineering, Law and Commerce/BMS streams. — ARI
