Mumbai: The police suspects that an unidentified person strangled the 22-year-old medical student who was found dead in her hostel room in Aurangabad on Wednesday. Reason being that the autopsy report of the victim has revealed ligature marks around her neck.

Deputy commissioner of police Rahul Khade said, “Immediately, the girl was rushed to a hospital where doctors decl-ared her dead. The post-mortem at the city-based Government Medical College and Hospital revealed that she died of strangulation.”

“We had noted signs of struggle and scuffle in the room. A mirror was found broken on the floor, while some other articles were also displaced. She was last seen on the CCTV cameras of the hostel Monday. She sha-red the room with two other students, both of whom have been away for the past couple of days,” he said.

The victim, identified as Akanksha Anil Deshmukh was pursuing her post-graduation in physiotherapy. She was found unconscious in her room by a warden of the hostel at the privately-run Mahatma Gandhi Mission Medical College.
