NCP's halla bol yatra set for last leg

NCP state chief Sunil Tatkare informed about the programme on Monday.

Mumbai: In the last leg of the Nationalist Congress Party’s halla bol yatra, the party will enter the Konkan region on May 6. The NCP is trying to reach all corners of Maharashtra and has so far completed a recce of four regions. After the washout in the 2014 assembly and 2017 local body elections, NCP leaders have been hard at work, trying to regain the people’s faith.

The NCP’s halla bol yatra will start May 6 in the Konkan region. For the first two days, the yatra will be in Palghar district and then in Thane. In June, the yatra will continue in Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhu-durg districts. NCP state chief Sunil Tatkare informed about the programme on Monday.

Mr Tatkare said, “We are receiving tremendous support from the people. In Marathwada, northern and western Maharashtra, our rallies and meetings were hugely attended by people of all ages. This prompted the BJP to attack us on the party’s foundation day on April 6. In such conditions, this halla bol yatra will culminate in the Konkan region.”

Recently, irrigation minister and senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Girish Mahajan, commented on NCP’s halla bol yatra. “Where is that yatra? People are voting for the BJP,” he taunted.

NCP’s halla bol yatra started in the Vidarbha region on December 1 last year.
