Man arrested for raping minor relative
Mumbai: The Kherwadi police arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly raping his teenage sister-in-law on Thursday. The incident allegedly took place on November 12, but the victim confided in her neighbours on Wednesday afternoon, when the accused again made sexual advances towards her. The accused has been booked under the relevant sections of the IPC and the POCSO Act.
On November 12, while the victim was sleeping beside her elder sister in her home, the accused raped her, threatening her to keep her mouth shut. Scared, she kept mum, but the accused person kept making sexual advances at her. Later, she narrated the entire incident to her neighbours and the accused was arrested, said a police officer.
Rajendra Patil, senior police inspector of Kherwadi police station confirmed the arrest and said, “Since the accused is a relative of the victim, we are not revealing the name of the accused. The victim was examined by a medical officer at the civic-run Bhabha Hospital, where it was confirmed that she was raped.”
The accused has been booked under section 376 of the IPC and sections 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act.
