MARD warns of agitation if demands not met by December 20

MARD has highlighted certain demands and stated that these are long-standing demands which have still not been fulfilled.

Mumbai: The Central Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) has written a letter to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, warning of a state-wide rasta roko agitation if their demands are not fulfilled before December 20. In the letter, MARD has highlighted certain demands and stated that these are long-standing demands which have still not been fulfilled.

“To study the living and working conditions of residents in all colleges of Maharashtra impartially, we request you to set up a third-party inquiry committee. Publish the reports of security audits of all medical colleges conducted till date,” read the letter.

Dr Lokeshkumar Chirwatkar, president of MARD said, “Our main demands are that we are in need of increased security and other key demands have been pending since a long time with the government having been giving us false assurances.”

“To highlight these false promises made by the government, we decided to write a letter to the CM. We have given an ultimatum to the government to fulfill our demands by December 20. Otherwise, we will go on a statewide ‘rasta roko’ agitation,” he said.
