Sheena Bora case: Property the murder motive
Mumbai: The prosecution in the Sheena Bora murder case has claimed that the motive behind the murder was that Indrani was afraid Sheena would get a big chunk of her husband Peter’s properties if Sheena married Peter’s son Rahul. Peter, meanwhile, got involved in the murder conspiracy since he did not like the idea of his son’s relationship with Sheena, the prosecution contended. According to the prosecution, Indrani convinced her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna to get involved in the conspiracy to kill Sheena saying that their daughter, Vidhi, would get a maximum part of the property if Sheena was removed from the equation. Shyamwar Rai, the driver, was promised a handsome amount of money, along with an assurance that his family’s medical expenses would be taken care of and he would be made a permanent employee.
During arguments on his bail plea, Peter had refuted the allegation against him, saying that when his son Rahul and Sheena got engaged, he had sent an SMS using his driver’s mobile phone blessing them a better future. Peter’s lawyer had also pointed out that the e-mails exchanged between Peter and one of his friends, which was put on record by the prosecution, show that Peter had expressed his happiness over Rahul’s engagement.
Khanna has refuted the allegations saying he was in Mumbai to see some land that he wanted to invest in. Though Indrani has also pleaded not guilty to the charges, she has not opened her defence thus far and even her bail plea was based on medical grounds. On the other hand, Rai has turned approver and, based on his claims, the prosecution is claiming that all the three accused are involved in the murder.
