Come forward with proof, police appeals to parents

The parents even wrote a letter to the deputy commission of police, seeking action against the accused.

Mumbai: At a time it says it has no evidence against the 57-year-old director of an Andheri-based IB school accused of sexually assaulting a three-year-old in November 2016, the MIDC police has appealed to parents to come forward with any evidence that can prove his crime.

The accused, who was arrested in November last year after the police reopened the case, resumed duties as the school’s director, which enraged several school parents who then approached the police saying that their children were not secure in his presence.

DCP Navinchandra Reddy said, “The parents have approached the police to take some action, but the fact that we have no clinching evidence to pin the accused binds us by law. The accused has been released on bail, and we cannot stop him from working. However, acting on the complaints, we can consider the possibility of probing the matter further, in order to bring forward any other instance involving similar allegations against the accused.”

Sources close to the investigation said that pressure has been building up following the protests by parents of children studying in the school. The parents even wrote a letter to the deputy commission of police, seeking action against the accused.
