MMRDA to develop village in Dahanu

The village population will be able to avail of better facilities with this project.

Mumbai: The Mumbai Metro-politan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has planned to develop Veti, a village located in Dahanu taluka of Thane district. The plan has been prepared by the appointed consultant and will focus on filling the infrastructural gaps of the village. The village population will be able to avail of better facilities with this project.

Veti is one of the areas that fall under the alignment of the Surya Water Scheme. Through this scheme, the MMRDA aims to provide water to Vasai-Virar and Mira-Bhayander, by diverting water from the Surya dam in Palghar.

The 88-km-long pipe-line will cross through around 15 villages in the district, of which Veti — is located at a distance of around 100km from Mumbai — has been selected for development. “Veti will be developed with all infrastructure facilities. A consultant was appointed to survey and learn about its requirements. A plan prepared by them has been given to the collector to take it ahead,” said Sanjay Khandare, additional metropolitan commissioner, MMRDA.
