Masked man slits private bus attendant's throat in Andheri
Mumbai: A 25-year-old female bus attendant, Neha Balsingh was murdered near Four Bungalows in Andheri (West) in broad daylight. A man, who was wearing a mask, slit her throat while she was on duty. Neha’s body has been sent to Cooper hospital for post-mortem.
The prime suspect in Neha Balsingh’s murder, her husband, who had gone missing after the incident, was arrested by the Mumbai police from Pune on Monday evening. The police are currently questioning him as a part of the probe.
The officials have registered a case against him under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) that pertains to murder.
The officials from Versova police station said that the incident took place when the deceased Neha Balsingh got down from the bus near MTNL office when it halted at a traffic signal, and a man, wearing a mask, slit her throat with a sharp weapon, following which she collapsed.
After the incident, the absconding accused fled the spot, and the bus driver immediately alerted the police and rushed her to the civic-run Cooper Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. When the police reached the spot, it checked the CCTV footages of the cameras which are near the crime scene.
An initial investigation in the case showed that Neha and her husband would often get into brawls in public. Neha’s neighbours and colleagues were aware of her bumpy relationship with her husband. On the basis of the primary investigation, the Versova police has registered a case of murder against her husband Sachin Balsingh, who is a school bus driver. The police has also made him the prime suspect in the case.
Senior police inspector Kiran Kale, who is stationed at Versova police station, told The Asian Age, “The incident took place on Monday morning. The probe is underway.”
The police is currently trying to ascertain the reason that might have led to husband killing his wife while she was on duty.
