2 contract killers arrested for firing at scrap dealer

Both arrested accused have a criminal background and several cases registered against them.

Mumbai: The Andheri MIDC police on Thursday arrested a wanted contract killer Feroz Khan from Indore for allegedly firing on a scrap dealer on August 4.

According to the police, Shikhand Saha, the person who hired Feroz Khan and his accomplice Sikandar Khan, was arrested last week and helped the police track both Feroz Khan and Sikandar Khan. Both arrested accused have a criminal background and several cases registered against them.

Earlier, MIDC police had detained five men from Andheri to extricate details of the two contract killers, who fled the city after firing on Aslam Khan, who was a scarp dealer by profession.

Three police teams were sent to places like Uttar Pradesh, Noida, and Haryana. Soon, the police received a tip-off about one of them being in Indore.

Acting on the information, the police laid a trap near Indore's marketplace and arrested Feroz Khan. Detailed interrogation revealed that Feroz Khan’s aide Sikandar Khan was hiding in the same vicinity, which led to his arrest.

A team led by Navinchandra Reddy, deputy commissioner of police (zone 10), arrested the accused on the basis of CCTV footage available near the scrapyard where the firing incident took place.

“The two contact killers were brought to Mumbai and produced in a local court. The duo has been remanded to police custody till Monday,” Mr Reddy said.

Police said that both the accused were history-sheeters, with several attempt to murder cases registered against them. Shikand Saha had hired the hitmen to kill Aslam Khan over a business rivalry.
