Mumbai: On the occasion of Swachata Divas, a cleanliness drive took place in the police stations across the city. Police commissioner Dattatray Padsalgikar also participated in the event and swept the floors of the police headquarters on Sunday morning. The initiative was undertaken as a way to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
A programme on ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ was organised at the Mumbai police headquarters. Following which, the police force together swept the headquarters clean. In a similar manner, 93 other police stations, including Malvani, Marol, Worli and Tardeo also participated in the drive.
Speaking to The Asian Age, Mumbai police spokesperson DCP (Operations) Rashmi Karandikar said, “The subject of today’s programme was ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ which means cleanliness itself is a service. This drive was not just a one-day drive, and shall continue for the entire year. Along with the headquarters, various other offices and 93 police stations too participated in this initiative.”
“The main motto is to keep the surroundings clean, and the person who enters the premises, should feel content and refreshed,” he added.
