Thackeray memorial will get green nod soon, says CM Fadnavis
Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday came together to pay homage to late Sena founder Bal Thackeray on his fifth death anniversary. The CM said that technical formalities for the memorial to Bal Thackeray had been completed and were awaiting environment nods. They also launched a website on the Sena founder’s memorial.
The CM said the government would cooperate with the Sena to build the memorial. “Though a trust has been formed for the Thackeray memorial, the government will help in completing it. It will be an inspirational memorial for all. Permission about the environment clearance will soon get clearance from the government,” the CM said. The memorial that would come at the mayor’s bungalow falls under coastal regulation zone, as the Arabian Sea is a stone’s throw away from the property. It spans an area of 11,500 square metres. The mayor had vacated the bungalow to pave the way for the memorial.
Sena ministers such as Subhash Desai, Diwakar Raote, Ramdas Kadam, MP Sanjay Raut, Anil Desai and the Thackeray family, including Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackereay, were present at Shivaji Park to pay homage to their late leader.
Uddhav Thackeray handed over Rs 2 crore for the CM’s relief fund to be utilised for the farmers in the state. He also contributed Rs 10 lakh of his own for the relief fund.
