Tejas Thackeray visits Shiv Sena shakhas; set to enter politics?

Tejas's brother Aaditya Thackeray already heads the party's youth wing Yuva Sena.

Mumbai: Is the younger son of Uddhav Thackeray entering politics? Tejas Thackeray, the 21-year-old younger son of Uddhav and Rashmi Thackeray, visited along with his father Shiv Sena shakhas earlier this week. Tejas’s brother Aaditya Thackeray already heads the party’s youth wing Yuva Sena.

Tejas’ love is wildlife, and is rarely seen in political circles. However, of late he is spotted with his father during political events. On Thursday in Ghatkopar’s Bhattwadi Tejas accompanied his father, during his shakha visits. This surprised many of the Shiv Sainiks, as they hadn’t seen Tejas ever at a shakha, that too with his father.

When the sainiks saw him, they all greeted Tejas with their official greeting ‘Jai Maharashtra’. Uddhav Thackeray is touring the shakhas of Shiv Sena in order to keep the workers active before the Brihanmumbai Municipal Council (BMC) elections. “When we saw Tejasbhai with Uddhavsaheb, everyone was surprised, because we had never seen him in a shakha before. We all greeted him with ‘Jai Maharashtra’ and he sat next to Uddhavji, Post that he didn’t ask many questions but accompanied Motesaheb (Uddhav Thackeray) and was keenly observing the ongoings of the shakha,” said a leader who was present during the visit.

Arvind Sawant, party’s spokesperson and also a Member of Parliament from South Mumbai, said, “There nothing like entry for us in the party, entry is for outsiders who are coming from other parties. Also, if Tejas is actively participating in the party affairs I think it is a good thing for the party. We all are born Shiv Sainiks.”

Meanwhile, a source close to Tejas claimed that he isn’t thinking of entering active politics as of now and is happy with what he is doing, doing wildlife research and photography. However, nothing can be said about the future, the source said. Currently Aaditya is the face of the party for the youngsters and is able to draw huge crowds too.
