Shivaji memorial issue unresolved'
Mumbai: The Shiv Sena on Friday hit out at the BJP-led state government over the construction of the Shivaji memorial and asked why it was unsuccessful in putting its stand on the issue before the Supreme Court.
The Sena in an editorial in party mouthpiece Saamana said that the apex court has once again stopped the construction of Shivaji memorial and this is happening repeatedly. “Hence this raises questions whether the government is serious about building the memorial,” it read.
The Sena pointed out that the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had been successfully constructed on the banks of Narmada in Gujarat and neither had any environmental nor any technical issues stopped this project.
The editorial said that the government brought amendments to the Constitution to avail 10 per cent reservation to the economically weaker section of the general category and solved the triple talaq issue. However, the issues of constructing a Ram temple in Ayodhya and Shivaji memorial in Mumbai remain unresolved, it said.
