Opposition creates ruckus

The Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) members tried to disrupt proceedings, raising slogans against the BJP-led government.

Mumbai: The budget presentation was marred by opposition’s protests. The Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) members tried to disrupt proceedings, raising slogans against the BJP-led government. After finance minister Sudhir Mungatiwar entered the Assembly with the budget bag, the opposition members went into the well of the house with banners demanding loan waiver for farmers. Later, they also burnt copies of the budget in the assembly premises.

In the assembly, the MLAs shouted slogans and played traditional instrument jhanj to create noise. The banners read “why hollow promise to Maharashtra of loan waiver while Uttar Pradesh gets the waiver.” Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the opposition was frustrated as it was losing everywhere in the state and country.
