Samadhan helpline launched to solve cops' queries

The helpline will also maintain secrecy about the queries if needed.

Mumbai: Mumbai Police commissioner has started a new Samadhan service to solve police personnel’s queries. The police officers face questions related to pension, salary, suspension, transfers and complaints about senior officers - for all these queries they can call Samadhan helpline. The police personnel don’t need to visit any officer personally. The helpline will also maintain secrecy about the queries if needed.

The circular was issued by Mumbai commissioner police office on March 17, stating that new helpline Samadhan has been started to solve the problems faced by police personnel. The circular stated that the police personnel could call on the helpline number - 22707720.

Further, in the circular, it is stated that this initiative has been started to save police officials’ time and increase their work productivity. Secondly, the circular also said that working police officials and retired officers can call to raise questions about police administrative tasks, privilege leaves, wages, salary increment, pension plans, sheet remarks, awards, housing rent, promotions and welfare, etc. If there is any complaint about a senior official, it will be kept secret.

To maintain transparency, the official who receives the call will send a mail to the complainant and provide complaint number. Then the complainant has to send the email to concerned officials. Any complaint will be resolved in 45 days. The circular has sent to all police station in Mumbai.

Suresh Chavhan, a retired senior police inspector, said, “It is really difficult and expensive to follow and travel every week to get details of pension. At least with this helpline, we can call, and our energy will be saved.”
