Mumbai: The Shiv Sena has continued to attack the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and chief minister Devendra Fadnavis over the issue of farmers’ suicide in the state. Now, Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece Saamana has taken a dig at CM Fadnavis’ recently launched television show Mi Mukhyamatri Boltoy. “Farmers suicides are not casual deaths. If the BJP feels that these are casual death then one day this government will also die a casual death,” read Saamana’s editorial.

Launching another attack through its editorial, the Sena supported the demand for farm loan waiver. “The spate of schemes announced by the chief minister in his weekly programme Mi Mukhyamantri Boltoy have been running for the last 25 years, and while the then (Congress-NCP) government was making similar claims, Devendra Fadnavis as part of opposition was demanding a loan waiver,” read the article.

Recently, Mr Fadnavis while speaking on the show highlighted the decision taken by his government. The BJP-led government also announced an ‘Advanced Farming – Enriched farmer’ scheme for farmers in the state last week.  The united opposition has been aggressively reaching out to the rural voters, demanding complete farm loan waiver.

In the editorial, the Sena demanded, “Fadnavis will have to give a complete loan waiver now, as demanded by him earlier if he takes himself seriously and considers himself to be the same person as he was before.” The editorial also made reference to Mr Fadnavis’s demand for complete loan waiver when he was in opposition.

The Sena’s mouthpiece also claimed that at least 5-10 farmers are committing suicides every day and the number has exceeded 100 this month. The Sena also took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying, “The agricultural scenario under PM Modi’s rule is grim. If the (state) government is serious about stopping farmers’ suicides, Mr Fadnavis should first stop his chitchat on TV and take steps to resolve this issue.”
