Governor to name new Mumbai University Vice-chancellor by friday
Mumbai: Maharashtra governor and chancellor of the Mumbai University (MU), Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, will interview the five candidates shortlisted for the position of Vice-chancellor (VC) of the MU on Thursday.
After the examination mess, delay in results, losing the NAAC accreditation and dip in NIRF ranking, the varsity needs a new Vice-chancellor (VC) who can resolve all these issues and help it regain position in the coming years.
A source said, “There have been many issues going on in the Mumbai University, so the new Vice-chancellor will bear the responsibility of clearing all the mess. Importantly, the newly introduced online assessment - on-screen marking (OSM) system and the financial crunch the varsity is going through. Only then will the potential candidate be selected.”
The shortlisted candidates include: Dr Pramod Yeole, pro-VC, Nagpur University; Suhas Pednekar, principal, Ramnarian Ruia College; Anil Karnik, director, Garware Institute of Career Education and Development; and Vidha Surana, head of department, German Studies, Mumbai University.
