14 of Dawood's properties to be auctioned

The properties include those where the gangster spent his childhood and also includes a petrol pump, officials said.

Mumbai: The Smuggling and Foreign Exchange Manipulators Authority (SAFEMA) officials inspected a list of 14 properties of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim at Khed in Ratnagiri, which are to be auctioned soon. The properties include those where the gangster spent his childhood and also includes a petrol pump, officials said.

The SAFEMA and Income Tax officials along with valuers to ascertain the market value of the properties to set the base price for auctioning them visited the properties. These properties are mostly registered in the names of the gangster's mother Amina Bi and sister Haseena Parkar.

Most of these properties are vacant and in bad shape and in the custody of the Indian government.

In April, the SAFEMA auctioned another property of the fugitive gangster, a residential apartment in south Mumbai, where his sister Haseena Parkar used to stay. The reserve price of the flat was '1.69 crore and it was auctioned for '1.80 crore. The residence was located at Gordon House Tower in Nagpada.

The officials said that the property was auctioned along with five other properties, which were seized in separate cases. The sale price of the property exceeded the reserve price of the property. 20 customers attended the auction.

In 2015, a similar auction of other properties of the fugitive gangster failed following which the government had to conduct a re-auction for properties including his 'Pakmodia Street' residence.

Other properties that were put up for auctioning included a two-storied building Shabnam Guest House at Yakub Street in Bhendi Bazar, Hotel Raunak Afroz located in Pakmodia Street along with his childhood residence at Damarwala building in Pakmodia Street.

In 2015, Hotel Raunak Afroz had gone under the hammer for '4.28crore, however, the bidder could not arrange the bid amount then.
