CM Fadnavis trying to topple Karnataka govt: Mallikarjun Kharge
Mumbai: Congress’ Maharashtra in-charge Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday said that chief minister Devendra Fadnavis-led government has been trying to dislodge the democratically elected coalition government in Karnataka. The former Union minister alleged that Mr Fadnavis and the state BJP have been keeping Congress legislators from Karnataka in captivity in the state capital.
Mr Kharge was speaking at the gathering of Congress leaders and workers at Y.B. Chavan Auditorium after Balasaheb Thorat’s elevation as the state unit chief.
Questioning the BJP over its alleged use of money power, Mr. Kharge claimed that one of the MLAs was brought to the city on Thursday morning and hospitalised in St George Hospital. “The police is not allowing anybody to meet him. The chief minister and his party, with the help of police, is trying to suppress democratically elected government in Karnataka,” Kharge said.
Mr. Kharge said that the RSS is trying to kill the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. It is our responsibility to save the country and bring peace in the society. But the BJP is sabotaging everything, he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Thorat, the newly appointed state unit chief, urged party workers and leaders to work together to form the government.
